Afghan forces killed 18 insurgents in their fresh raids

Afghan defense and security forces have killed at least 18 armed insurgents in their newest military operations throughout the country.

Afghan defense ministry said on Thursday that Afghan forces have killed at least 18 armed militants in past 24 hours throughout the country and wounded 10 other militants.

According to the statement, at least 10 Taliban-linked militants were killed in Chesht-e-Sharif district of western Herat province and 7 more were wounded. 4 militants were killed in Maiwand district of southern Kandahar province and three others were wounded.

The statement added that 2 other militants were killed in Chura district of Urozgan, while two insurgents lost their lives in a mine explosion in Shir-Khan of Kunduz province.

Afghan defense ministry says that Afghan security forces have carried out 16 coordinated clean-up operations and 68 special operations in 11 provinces in past 24 hours, while Afghan air forces launched 34 flights to support the ground army forces during the same time.
