Afghan forces killed 21 insurgents including a Taliban local commander

Afghan forces have killed at least 21 armed insurgents including a Taliban local commander in their newest military operations across the country.

Afghan ministry of defense said in a statement that at least 21 armed insurgents including a Taliban local commander were killed and 17 others were wounded.

According to the statement, in operations in Ghormach and Kuhestanat districts of northern Faryab province, at least 13 Taliban militants including their local commander, “Mullah Jalal” were killed and 8 others were wounded. In central Urozgan province, Afghan forces also killed four insurgents and wounded three others.

Four other insurgents were also killed in Darzab district of Jowzjan province and 6 more were wounded.

Afghan defense ministry added in its statement that in past 24 hours, Afghan forces launched 12 planned clean-up operations and 68 special operations in 9 provinces. Afghan Air Force also launched 74 flights in support of army ground forces.
