Afghan Government calls on private sec to invest in TAPI Gas pipeline

The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum called on the Afghan private sector to invest in the long-awaited Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline.

Mahaiuddin Noori, spokesperson for the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, said this move was to encourage investment and create job opportunities.

Private companies will be involved in the technical aspect of the project, added Noori.

The Afghan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) has welcomed the move and said that the private sector had the necessary capacity for technical implementation of the TAPI project.

Earlier this week, Afghan officials reported that work on the TAPI gas pipeline would officially kick off in December.
