Abdul Salam Rahimi:

Afghan government ready to negotiate with Taliban anywhere, anytime

Afghan government is ready to negotiate with the Taliban anywhere and anytime, the country’s state minister for peace said on Saturday.

Speaking at a ceremony to mark International Day of Peace, Minister Abdul Salam Rahimi said that peace could be reached only through intra-Afghan dialogue.

He said that peace should be inclusive and it should ensure interest of all Afghans, not a specific group.

Meanwhile, Sima Samar, Afghanistan’s state minister for human rights, said that peace is not possible if it doesn’t takes into account human rights.

Ihsan Zia, country director for Afghanistan programs of United States Institute of Peace, said that the main root of Afghan war lies in the country itself, adding politicians should be ready to pay sacrifice.
