Afghan, Pakistani elders to meet to discuss border dispute

Elders of Afghan and Kurram agency in Pakistani tribal area are to meet on Sunday to discuss border disputes and work out a joint mechanism in order to avoid future confrontation.

According to Dawn, this was decided at a jirga held in lower Kurram on Tuesday which was attended by senior local Pakistani officials.

The jirga expressed concern over recent clashes at Laka Tiga area on Pakistan side and in Zazai Maidan in Khost province of Afghanistan.

During this clashes at least five Pakistani soldiers were killed and 12 others were wounded and that the bodies of the dead soldiers were returned to Pakistani side after negotiation.

Reports also suggest that at least 10 Afghan soldiers lost their lives in the incident.
