Pakistani president:

Afghan students acquiring higher education in Pakistan under scholarship

President Mamnoon Hussain on Tuesday said that Afghan students acquiring higher education in Pakistan under scholarship programmes would prepare themselves for future challenges.

He was addressing the launch ceremony of a documentary on Afghan students studying in Pakistan.

The president also claimed that peace and stability in Afghanistan are deeply linked to progress and prosperity of the entire region.

He also said that Allama Iqbal had described Afghanistan as the heart of Asia.

He cautioned against attempts being made by some powers to create a gulf between people of the two countries and added that greater linkages envisaged by CPEC will open new vistas for the promotion of regional trade and economy.

Mamnoon Hussain added that CPEC would bring new technologies and opportunities with which the youth should equip themselves with, to exploit all opportunities.

He said that the Afghan students are Afghanistan’s ambassadors in Pakistan but on their return, they should serve as Pakistani ambassadors.

Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman, Mukhtar Ahmad said that the scholarship programme is an investment in Afghanistan’s human resource development and future.

“We are also helping Afghanistan in faculty development,” he informed.
