Afghan Wolesi Jirga shuts down

Afghanistan’s House of Representatives (Wolesi Jirga) shuts down till the end of Eid ul-Fitr holidays without reaching a conclusion over the house speaker, the Wolesi Jirga said in a statement.

Three weeks ago, the MPs began appointing the administrative panel of the House but they have not reached a conclusion yet.

The controversy is between two main rivals Kamal Naser Osuli and Mir Rahman Rahmani as the two sides achieved 55 and 123 votes respectively during an election process held at the Wolesi Jirga.
The MPs demanded to elect the House speaker through reviewing the voting process by appointing a 20-member delegation of the supporters and opponents of each nominee.

The whole controversy at the parliament is over a dot (.) which it is known as a “two million dollars” dot on social networks and media outlets.
Finally, on Tuesday, May 28, the House of Representatives was closed until the end of eve holidays without reaching a result.
