Prospects for expanding bilateral relations in telecommunications and information technologies in such areas as organization of high-speed transit communication channels, increasing the volume of international telephone traffic between the networks of telecommunication operators of the two countries, organization of high-speed Internet access, training of personnel in ICT and others were considered.Uzbekistan National News Agency reported.
It was noted that expansion of interaction in the field of telecommunications and information technologies will allow to strengthen both bilateral, and regional cooperation.
Following the negotiations, the two ministries signed a Memorandum of Understanding on strategic cooperation. The purpose of this document is to expand cooperation and exchange experience in the sphere of telecommunications, information technologies and post services. Technical assistance in ICT sphere is also provided by the document.
The sides will strengthen the normative legal framework of the industry, optimize the telecommunications system, information technology networks and postal infrastructure, in particular, postal transit through Uzbekistan to Central Asia will be provided.
The sides also agreed to cooperate in order to improve competitiveness in various areas of ICT industry, development and promotion of the “Electronic government” system.
