Afghan defense ministry said in a statement on Monday that at least 72 armed militants including 17 ISIS fighters were killed during the latest operations of Afghan forces across the country.
According to the statement, the 17 ISIS fighters were killed in Deh Bala district of eastern Nangarhar province while 15 hideouts of the terror group were also destroyed in the operation.
Afghan forces killed 15 militants in southern Zabul province, and killed another 8 insurgents in Khan Abad of Kunduz in north. In Khak-e-Safid district of western Farah province, 8 other militants were also killed.
Other insurgents who were killed in the latest Afghan forces’ operations were in provinces of Takhar, Helmand, Kunar, Ghazni, Herat, Faryab and Urozgan.
The statement added that in past 24 hours, Afghan forces launched 12 planned clean-up and 65 special operations in 10 provinces. Afghan air force launched 113 flights in support of ground forces and pounded 14 strikes on the hideouts of the insurgents.
