Bangladeshi-origin IS leader held in Afghanistan

The Afghan intelligence authorities revealed the identities of two arrested leaders of Islamic State who are from Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Afghanistan’s National Directorate of Security in a statement said the Afghan intelligence arrested Mohammad Tanweer having aliases Omran, Ahmad and Nasir, who is originally a resident of Dhaka in Bangladesh, reports Afghan news agency Khaama Press.

The statement said that Tanweer was in charge of the information technology of ISIS Khurasan who was trained by Esa Panjabi, a resident of Punjab in Pakistan.

According to NDS, Tanweer was playing a key role in organising communications between ISIS Khurasan leaders in a confidential manner.

The NDS forces also arrested Ali Mohammad, a senior ISIS Khurasan leader, who was in charge of the logistics affairs of the terror group. Mohammad is originally a resident of Islamabad of Pakistan and he was playing a key role in coordinating foreign aid to support ISIS activities in Afghanistan.
