Forty percent of insurgents fighting in Afghanistan is foreigners.  

The Ministry of Defense has recently announced four out of every ten insurgents fighting in Afghanistan are not of Afghan nationality, but foreigners.

General Dawlat Waziri, deputy spokesman for the Ministry of Defense says these militants creating instability and insecurity in Afghanistan are of Punjabis, Uzbek, Tajik, Chechen, Uyghur and Arabs nationalities.

Earlier this month, talking to the members of the SCO summit in Russia, President Ashraf Ghani had also said: “Majority of the insurgents fighting against the government in Afghanistan and committing terror actions are coming from your countries to Afghanistan. They use the Afghan soil to destabilize your countries and threat the regional security.”

He also called on for a collective cooperation of the regional countries against the growing threat of the terrorism in the region.
