AM General based on a USD356 million award from the US military is to commence manufacturing of 1,673 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (Humvees) on August and deliver them to Afghan forces.

In a statement released by AM General on August 1, the contract includes 1,259 units of the M1151A1B1 armament-carrying Humvees and 414 units of the M1152A1B2 troop carriers.

AM General is scheduled to finish manufacturing of the above mentioned Humvees on July 29, 2017 and will deliver to the US government for further delivery to Afghan Security Forces.

The contract is part of a previously announced foreign military sales contract that also included Iraq, Kenya, Lebanon, Ukraine and Tunisia.

AM General began production of the M1151 and M1152 variants in 2005, and feature armor protection, including frag kits, all of which can be installed and removed in the field, the company said.
