President Ghani ousted Kandahar powerful police chief

This is not the first time that reports of General Abdul Razaq’s dismissal from his position come viral.

Earlier it had been reported that President Ghani had decided to oust the powerful Kandahar police chief due to the support Abdul Razaq showed for former Balkh governor Ata Mohammad Noor.

At that time, General Abdul Razaq reacted harshly and said no one including the leaders of the National Unity Government had the jurisdiction to oust him from his position.

But now with Ata Mohammad Noor resigning from his post after he reached an agreement with the government, unverified reports suggest that president Ghani has signed the resignation letter of General Abdul Razaq.

A member of Afghan analyst network has told Los Angeles Times that President Ghani has signed the resignation letter of powerful Kandahar police chief.

General Abdul Razaq and Arg officials have yet to comment on the report.
