Herat produces 100 thousands tons of dried fruit annually

Industrial Association of western Herat province says the province produces almost 100 thousand tons of dried fruit annually.

President of Herat industrial Association Himdullah Khadim has said these dried fruits are being packed in a number factories across the province, and that the industry has remarkably improved comparing to previous years.

“These dried fruits mostly raisin and pistachio not only meet the domestic demands but also get exported to foreign countries including Pakistan, Iran and China,” Khadim added.

Most people in the province believe the best way to fight poppy cultivation in the province is to support farming industry, and the government should take a huge share on this.
