Indonesia vice president to attend the Kabul process meeting

 Vice President of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla is set to attend the Kabul Process meeting as a guest of honor on tomorrow, Wednesday.

In the meeting he would share Indonesia’s experience in peacebuilding operations.

Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi announced that the vice president’s visit to Kabul is to fulfill President Ashraf Ghani’s invitation to attend as a guest of honor at the Kabul Process

The Kabul Process, which was first held in June 2017, is an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process aimed at establishing peace, security and stability in the country after decades of violence.

“This is an event that’s been requested by President Ghani to Indonesia, and now we are able to organize it,” Retno said.

However, both countries still need to carry out detailed and intensive discussions, she added.

Karim Khalili said that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo had conveyed Indonesia’s readiness to hold the international ulemas conference during his meeting with the chief of Afghanistan’s High Peace Council

“Indonesia is ready to host this event. It’s important for this meeting to be inclusive,” Jokowi said, as quoted in a statement issued by the Cabinet Secretariat.

According to Retno While in Kabul, the vice president is scheduled to meet with Ghani and the High Peace Council. He will also visit the Indonesian Islamic Center,
