NSA:

Intra-Afghan talks to be held next month

Over 40 representatives of the Afghan government held an “intra-Afghan conference” with the Taliban in Qatar amid the seventh round of US-Taliban talks. The marathon talks did not have tangible outcomes.

After nearly a week since the Doha conference, the Afghan NSA Hamdullah Mohib said that the second round of talks between the Afghan government representatives and the Taliban will be held next month, but did not give further details regarding the date and the place of the meeting.

A statement released by the office of NSA on Saturday says that the next round of talks between the Afghan government representatives and the Taliban has been raised during a meeting between Mr Mohib and the German ambassador to Kabul.

Over 40 Afghan government delegates and 17 Taliban representatives recently attended the first intra-Afghan conference in Qatar. Although the intra-Afghan meeting had given hope for peace to the Afghan citizens, a day later, Taliban said the outcome of the meeting is not feasible, adding that the two sides have just expressed their concerns about the current situation.
