ISIS Uzbek commander arrested in northern Jawzjan province

Local officials in northern Jawzjan province said the ISIS Uzbek commander Shirzad Anwarov has been arrested by Afghan security forces while he was travelling to an unknown location.

Spokesman for the local government Mohammad Reza Ghafuri identified Shirzad Anwarov as a key commander for ISIS terror group who was in charge of weapon supplies for the group in the province.

He said Anwarov hailing form Bukhara of Uzbekistan was arrested by Afghan security forces at a check point in Sheberghan city of the province.

According to Ghafuri, Anwarov has already confessed his links with ISIS and said he had travelled to Pakistan and Uzbekistan several times under different names.
