In this meeting, former President Hamid Karzai suggested that in a bid to achieve durable peace throughout the country, there is a need to fully back the ongoing US efforts for peace.
Karzai said remarks and propagandas that come out from media outlets that “provoke war and hatred”, should be stopped utterly and efforts for the formation of an inclusive negotiating team for Doha meeting should be accelerated.
Moreover, according to KabulNews, some leaders in the meeting have opposed Qatar meeting and also the current peace efforts. “In reaction Khalilzad said there is no representative of those people that their sons were killed in the battlefields.”
He added: “The United States will definitely end this war and also the peace process in a result-orientated manner.”
Khalilzad in a tweet said that he met Afghan leaders at Presidential Palace to discuss the necessity of an inclusive Afghan negotiating team and the Doha meeting to respond to Afghan people’s urgent demand for peace.
Along both presidents, Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah, Vice President Sarwar Danish, Deputy Chief Executive Mohammad Mohaqeq, Jihad leader Abdul RAb Rasoul Sayyaf, HIA Head Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani, High Peace Council Head Abdul Karim Khalil, HPC Secretariat Umer Dadzai, Chief of Staff Abdul Sallam Rahimi, Dr. Fazel Fazely and Abdul Raouf Ibrahimi were present in the meeting.
