Khalilzad meeting Pakistani officials shared new plans on Intra-Afghan talks

Zalmay Khalilzad, the U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Ambassador, shared new plans with Pakistani officials regarding intra-Afghan talks.

“The US wants to bring together all Afghan factions, including the government and different segments of the society, and begin discussions on the lines of the Moscow Format,” Pakistan’s foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said

This comes as the first exclusive intra-Afghan dialogue was organized earlier in the month of February in Moscow, the capital city of Russia.

Representatives of the Taliban group and some prominent political leaders had taken part in the summit to discuss ways to end the ongoing conflict in the country.

In the meantime, Pakistan’s foreign minister said he was “optimistic” despite the challenges and presence of forces that would try to impede the process.

Khalilzad is expected to return to Kabul after concluding his trip to Pakistan Today.
