At least 12 villages in northern Badakhshan province cleared of insurgents

Afghan security forces in cooperation with local resident forces have cleared at least 12 villages in Raghistan district of northern Badakhshan province of the militants.

Afghan security forces in cooperation with local resident forces have cleared at least 12 villages in Raghistan district of northern Badakhshan province of the militants, media office of the provincial government said in a statement.

During the operations 27 Taliban-linked insurgents were also killed and 32 others were wounded, the statement added.

Three top commanders of the militants are among the dead, according to the statement.

The statement also includes that insurgents linked to Taliban group have also got stuck in full siege of government and local resident forces in areas of KalrPayan and Ghur Pala villages of the province.

During the operations, two government forces also suffered martyrdom and 6 others got slight injuries. Said the statement.

The operation is going on until the district has fully been cleaned up of the insurgents.

According the media office of the provincial government, the ongoing operations started 8 days ago and has so far inflicted heavy casualties on the insurgents.
