Mohaqiq, who met with Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s advisor Ali Akbar Velayati, said that Daesh activities have spread from Iraq and Syria to Afghanistan.
Velayati said in turn that Tehran was committed to assisting the Afghan government and its people with such challenges.
The Senior Iranian advisor also raised the issue of a recent high-level Afghan delegation visit to Islamabad and said that Tehran hopes that peace talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban will be resumed as soon as possible.
Last week a high-ranking Afghan delegation held talks in Pakistan over recent developments in the country that have soured relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Among the Afghan delegation’s demands to Pakistan was that they cut ties with the Taliban and stop providing them with safe havens.
