MPs re-gave their votes of confidence to Afghan intelligence chief

The Afghan Intelligence, National Directorate of Security (NDS), Chief Masoom Stanikzai secured the vote of confidence from the majority of the lawmakers.

Stanikzai was impeached by the lawmakers in the Lower House of the Parliament, Wolesi Jirga, to brief the lawmakers regarding the recent security upheavals, khaama wrote.

The Afghan Intelligence particularly answered questions regarding the Kabul Intercontinental Hotel attack, the Balkh political stalemate, and the recent Taliban attack in Ghazni, killing several senior officials, including the district administrative chief.

In regards to the Intercontinental Hotel attack, Mr. Stanikzai said at least eight perpetrators involved in plotting and coordinating the attack have been arrested while one of them has managed to flee.

Stanikzai further added that he meddled to resolve the Balkh political stalemate only on recommendations and orders of the higher government officials.

The NDS chief rejected the allegation that the agency was reckless regarding the Ghazni attack and said information regarding the threats were shared with the local officials ahead of the attack.
