Mullah Baradar arrived in Doha for the talks with U.S. representatives

Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the deputy chief of Taliban and the head of the political office of Taliban, has arrived in Doha, the capital of Qatar for the talks with U.S. representatives.

Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid in a statement confirmed earlier today that Mullah Baradar has arrived in Doha city of Qatar.

The fifth round of talks between the U.S. and Taliban representatives will kick off today in Qatar.

Zabiullah Mujahid in a Twitter post has confirmed that the fifth round of talks will focus on U.S. troops withdrawal of prevention of Afghanistan from harming others.

This comes as efforts are underway to find a negotiated settlement to the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan.

The U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad had earlier emphasized on resumption of direct talks with the Afghan government but the Taliban group has so far refrained from participating in direct talks with the government.
