NDS arrests top Mafia leader in Parwan of Afghanistan

A top Mafia leader was arrested by the Afghan intelligence operatives during an operation in northern Parwan province of Afghanistan.

The National Directorate of Security (NDS) said a group of five kidnappers including a woman were also arrested together with the Mafia leader during an operation by the NDS operatives.

A statement by NDS said the detained Mafia leader was famous as Major General Paikar who was leading a gang of the kidnappers.

The statement further added that 23 various types of weapons, 2 vehicles, fake documents, military uniforms, and several passports were also confiscated by the intelligence operatives.

NDS also added that the gang was looking to carry out terrorist activities as well in Parwan province with the cooperation of Mawlavi Nasim Mushfiq, Taliban’s shadow governor for Parwan.

The Afghan intelligence operatives have stepped up special raids to suppress the activities of the Mafia gangs across the country as there have been a rise in the operations of such groups during the recent months.

The majority of the kidnappings are done for ransoms and the incidents continue despite the Afghan intelligence nabbed two MAFIA bosses involved in major kidnappings who were later executed by the government.

The two top MAFIA leaders, Habib Istalif and Raees Khudaidad, were executed late in 2014 and early in 2015 after they were arrested by intelligence operatives.
