Ghani had extended the invitation during the visit of Pakistan’s National Security Adviser Nasser Khan Janjua to Kabul on Saturday.
The president had said that the invitation would initiate state-to-state comprehensive dialogue between the two neighbors.
Citing senior officials at Pakistan’s foreign ministry, a newspaper of the country reported that Abbasi had accepted the invitation to visit Kabul.
“The dates will be finalised through diplomatic channels. We also expect President Ashraf Ghani to return the visit later,” The Nation reported.
Relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan have drastically deteriorated in recent years over terrorism.
It would be Abbasi’s first visit to Kabul after taking over as Pakistan’s PM in August last year.
