President Ghani says he won’t stay beyond his term of office

Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani says that he won’t stay even one minute more beyond his term of office.

Emphasizing on holding a fair and transparent election in a ceremony to mark the eighth of Thor (victory of Afghans against Soviet Invasion), President Ghani said that he would not stay even one minute more beyond his term of office.

Mr. Ghani added that his term of office will end on 22 June, 2019 and he will not stay even one minute more beyond that time.

The remarks by president Ghani comes amid suggestions by some experts saying that considering the long delay on the Parliamentary and district councils’ election, the presidential election would also be held with much delay.

President Ghani also emphasized on the fair and transparent Parliamentary election and said the election will be held timely and that the government is committed that it would not interfere in the election.
