Hekmatyar emphasized:

“The presidential election should not need for U.S. intervention.”

Hizb-i-Islami leader Gulbudin Hekmatar during the ceremony of anniversary of Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan claimed that the presidential vote should be held in such a way that there will be no need for U.S. intervention.

Gulbudin Hekmatar also warned Afghanistan’s foreign allies not to interfere in next presidential elections.

He said that the result of elections of should be determined by ballots cast, not through “John Kerry” proposed solution.

Kerry brokered National Unity Government deal between Ashraf Ghani and Abdullah Abdullah following a disputed election in 2014.

Hekmatyar emphasized that the presidential elections should be held in transparent manner.

During the event, Ghani also said that the government’s peace plan will be presented to the international community in the upcoming meeting of Kabul Process, which is expected to be held later this month.

Afghanistan would have the next presidential election next year.
