Protest of Shah Shaheed residents leaves three injured

Families of those killed and injured in the Shah Shaheed explosion on Sunday staged a protest in Kabul, criticizing the National Unity Government’s (NUG) negligence towards them.

The Shah Shaheed residents pitched tents on Shah Shaheed Road, saying that they will continue their protest until the government pays compensation to the affected families and addresses their demands.

The shah Shaheed area of Kabul witnessed a deadly explosion last month, in which 15 people were killed, and more than 400 others wounded.

The protestors chanted slogans against the NUG leaders. At one stage the protest turned violent when they started stoning police, who in turn opened fire on them. Three protesters were injured.

The protestors, who shut down Shah Shaheed Road, claimed the government has turned its back on them and has done nothing to help.

The protestors warned they would continue their protest until their demands are met.
