Sadiq: Taliban visit is part of Pak-policy

Pakistan supports broad-based and comprehensive political settlement for durable peace, stability and prosperity in Afghanistan and the region.

Mohammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s special envoy to Afghanistan, wrote on his Twitter account that a delegation from the Taliban’s Qatar office, led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, had arrived in Pakistan to discuss Afghan peace with Pakistani officials.

The delegation is visiting Pakistan from 16th to the 18th of December, Taliban leaders will meet Pakistani Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Prime Minister, Imran Khan, Sadiq added.

He said, “Pakistan supports broad-based and comprehensive political settlement for durable peace, stability, and prosperity in Afghanistan and the region.”

This comes in a time, Doha wherein both Taliban and the Afghan government took a break from talks until January 5, 2021.

Parties will consult with the leading authorities over the agenda.
