Security forces kill 10 insurgents in their newest raids

Afghan security forces in their routine cleanup operations killed 10 insurgents and wounded seven others, Afghan interior ministry said.

The ministry said in a statement that the raids were conducted in seven of the country’s 34 provinces within the last 24 hours.

“The Ministry of Interior Affairs appreciates the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) operations to eliminate the terrorists’ sanctuaries and is a good step toward improving the security and stability,” the statement said.

The security forces also found and seized weapons and ammunition, the statement said, without adding if there were any casualties on the side of security forces.

Afghan security forces have pressed on clearing the militants in restive provinces as Taliban militants have been attempting to take territory and consolidate their positions ahead of winter in the Central Asian country.

The Taliban have yet to make comment.
