Security forces kill 50 militants in newest military operations

Over 50 militants were killed and 44 others were wounded during counterterrorism operations led by the Afghan National Army (ANA) forces, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said.

The operations were conducted during the past 24 hours in various provinces of the country where at least 11 militants were also arrested.

A statement by MoD said at least 15 of the militants including a commander of the group were killed in Dand-e-Ghori district of Baghlan and 12 others were wounded.

The statement further added that 12 militants were killed and 22 others were wounded while 4 were arrested during an operation in Baharak district of Badakhshan.

In a separate operation in Herawood district of Uruzgan province, at least 8 militants were killed and 4 others were wounded, MoD added.

The anti-government armed militants suffered heavy casualties during an operation in Marjah district of Helmand province, MoD said, adding that the exact number will be released later.

MoD also added that a militant was killed, 5 militants were injured and 7 others were wounded in Nawa and Sangin districts of Helmand and Parwan province.

According to MoD, several weapons, ammunition and explosives were confiscated by Afghan security forces during the same operations.

The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the reports so far.
