Kabul police chief Gen. Abdul Rahman Rahimi confirmed that a suicide bomber detonated his explosives near the Ministry of Defense entrance gate, leaving nine dead and thirteen others wounded. According to Khaama press.
A security official confirmed the incident and said a suicide bomber targeted the personnel of the Ministry of Defense (MoD) in Pul-e-Mahmood Khan area of the city.
Footage and pictures emerging from the site of the incident showed thick white smoke rising in the sky as the security forces cordoned off the area immediately after the blast.
The Taliban militants group claimed responsibility behind the incident which comes amid ongoing efforts to end the violence through peaceful negotiations.
Today’s incident takes place almost a month after a suicide bomber targeted the compound of the Afghan Public Order police forces in Deh Mazang area of the city, leaving at least 10 people dead and 25 others wounded.
