A would-be suicide attack on Parwan province foiled

A would-be suicide attack was foiled after Afghan Special Forces of Police launched late Sunday a coordinated operation against Taliban insurgents in central Parwan province.

Afghan ministry of interior said in a statement that Special Forces of Afghan police launched the operation late yesterday in Puraki village of Siah-Gerd district formerly known as Ghorband district.

“At least 13 Taliban insurgents including 5 who were ready for suicide attacks were killed as a result of the operation,” the statement said.

The would-be suicide attackers were to launch some attacks in fairly-secured Parwan province.

The statement added that some amount of ammunitions and explosive devices were also seized from militants.

Taliban insurgents have yet to make any comments on the report.

Parwan province is located in central part of Afghanistan toward the northeast. It has ten administrative districts with Charikar serving as its capital.
