Taliban burn governmental facilities in Khaja Ghar of Takhar province

Taliban militants on Monday morning launched a coordinated attack on Khaja Ghar district of northeastern Takhar province and burned a number of governmental facilities.

Taliban militants this morning launched attacked on governmental facilities of the district and later claimed to have re-taken the district; however, security officials said neither sides had full control of the district.

Security officials later said they launched an operation to clear the district of the insurgents.

Media office of the provincial governor said khaja Ghar was fully regained from militants, but they have burned a number of governmental facilities there.

This is the second time in less than a week that Taliban militants take control of a district.

Taliban militants on Saturday morning captured Khan Abad district in northern Kunduz province; however, later in the day, the district was retaken by Afghan forces.
