Taliban confirms its delegation visited Pakistan to mull in peace talks

Afghan Taliban has confirmed a delegation from the group’s political office in Qatar has visited Pakistan recently to explore ways of restoring peace talks.

 

The group in a statement said a delegation comprising of five Taliban leaders visited Islamabad to hold talks with the Pakistani officials to explore ways for reviving peace talks.

The statement further added that the group favors political settlement to end the ongoing violence in the country but no further details have been given.

This comes as Pakistani officials had earlier said a group of the Taliban officials has arrived in the country to seek for possible ways of restoring peace talks with the Afghanistan government.

In the meantime, there were also reports suggesting another delegation of the Afghan Taliban visited representatives of Afghan officials in Istanbul of Turkey for a possible peace negotiations.

Though a video of the Turkey meeting was circulated in social networks and media, both the Afghan Taliban and Afghan government officials denied such talks.
