Taliban shadow governor killed in Faryab

The Taliban shadow governor for northern Faryab province was killed along with some other fighters during a fresh Afghan forces’ military operation.

“Zabi Ghazi was among about 12 militants killed during the operations in Sherin Tagab district.” local security officials said.

A spokesman for the provincial security commandment Abdul Karim Yurish said that a number of Taliban insurgents were also wounded during the operations

Yurish  further added that the Afghan forces have also confiscated some weapons and ammunition during the operation.

The anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban insurgents have not commented regarding the report so far.

Faryab is among the relatively volatile provinces in northern parts of the country where the anti-government armed militant groups are actively operating in a number of its districts and often carry out insurgency activities.
