A number of armed Taliban militants yesterday launched a large coordinated attack on Pasaband district in central Ghor province to take the administrative building, but it was foiled by security forces, Najibullah Najibi a spokesman for Zafar 207 Army corps said.
He said Afghan forces were fully prepared against their coordinated attack.
At least 7 insurgents were killed and 10 others were wounded. According to Najibi.
Some sources say that at least one thousand armed Taliban militants gathered before to take the district.
Taliban militants have yet to make any comments on the report so far.
Ghor province is located in central part of Afghanistan and has ten administrative districts with Chaghcharan serving as its capital.
