Two women were killed by gunmen on Monday in Herat province, local officials said Tuesday.
Arif Jilani, director of the regional hospital, confirmed the incident and said that the women were traveling in a rickshaw in Hawoz Karbas area of the city when unknown gunmen riding a motorbike opened fire on them.
Jailani said that the rickshaw driver was also wounded in the firing.
Local officials said the so far the reason for the incident is not known and the perpetrators fled the area.
No group including the Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
