Uzbekistan, Afghanistan to discuss new contract on electricity supply

A delegation of Afghanistan will visit Tashkent to negotiate on electricity supplies from Uzbekistan to the country. The sides plan to talk and sign a new contract for 2016.

In this regard, both sides already have a preliminary agreement, but the details will be discussed at the meeting.

Electricity consumption is growing each year in Afghanistan making not less than 10% in a year.

According to a signed protocol on increasing the volume of electricity supplies to 300 mW in June 2007, Uzbekistan exports electricity to Afghanistan since February 2011.
