Vaccine Springhouse inaugurated at Kabul Air Port

The Ministry of Public Health of Afghanistan inaugurated a cold room for protection and storage of vaccine at the Hamid Karzai International Airport here in Kabul yesterday.

The cold room has proper storage capacity which can store 12 million doses of vaccine in one time and also able to supply all needed routine vaccines across the country for three months.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the cold room, Dr. Ferozuddin Feroz, the Public Health Minister said: “the vaccine cold room at the airport acts as a store for transit as well as back up facility for national level vaccine stores.

This is very crucial and first step for ensuring quality of vaccines once the vaccine shipments arrive into the country.

“The Immunization program is one of the high priority programs of the ministry of public health and this new facility will go a long way in ensuring quality vaccines for children, the Minister added.

This cold room funded by UNICEF has been constructed over past one year at the total cost of $ 150,000 and equipped with all necessary tools of cold chain
