“We are not interested in war, but defend our country,” CE Abdullah

Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah met at his office with a number of Khost elders, influential figures, provincial council members and the families of those martyred in defending national sovereignty, his office said in a statement on Saturday.  

During the meeting, the participants thanked CE Abdullah for his constant cooperation with them and addressing their needs, according to the statement.
Khost elders said few days ago, Pakistani army offended Afghanistan’s soil, but they have faced people and Afghan security forces’ resistance, resulted in martyrdom of two civilians and injuring three others, the statement added.
They added we are ready to make sacrifices in defending our soil and homeland.
They asked for establishing a border battalion in Khost to better thwart threats along the border, the statement went on to say.
Appreciating the patriotism feeling of Khost and Paktia provinces, Dr. Abdullah said the people and government of Afghanistan were not looking for war, but if needed, they are ready to defend against any threat.
He added establishing a border kandak in Khost province would be proposed to Security Council and through that, it would be pursued, the statement continued.
The participants asked CE Abdullah forconstruction of a road and a hospital in their province, adding while cooperation with martyrs’ families and to honor the martyrs’ blood, a minaret should be constructed in Khost province after them.
CE Abdullah promised to propose the issue on construction of a road and hospital in Khost province in extraordinary meeting of council of ministers as well as would instruct the relevant organizations to seriously follow the construction of a minaret after the martyrs.
