Afghan district police chief killed in Ghazni bomb blast

An Afghan district police chief was killed after a bomb exploded in Afghanistan’s central-eastern Ghazni province on Wednesday.

Qadir Shah, police chief of Ghazni’s Khogyani district, was killed as the vehicle he was travelling in was hit by a roadside bomb near his office, a security source said.

One of his guards was also killed in the blast. Two police were injured, according to the source.

The provincial governor confirmed death of the police official.

Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

In a separate incident, two Taliban insurgents were killed in an airstrike in Sultan Bagh area of Andar district, Ghazni.
