Afghan Taliban suggests help for implementation of TAPI project

The armed Taliban group has announced support for the “Turkmenistan Afghanistan Pakistan India” (TAPI) gas pipeline project, the group said in a statement.

“TAPI is an important economic project in the region and the Taliban group will cooperate for its implementation in the areas that are under the control of the group,” the statement reads.

The Taliban group has also called on involved countries of the TAPI project to take a guarantee for the impunity of this project from the United Nations.

The work on the Afghanistan section of the project began today with the presence of all four countries’ leaders during a special ceremony in western Herat province.
