Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Yemen received humanitarian aid from Bulgaria

Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Yemen will receive humanitarian aid from Bulgarian government to the amount of 782 000 leva (about 399 830 euro), the government information service said after a February 28 2018 Cabinet meeting.

The largest share will be directed to Syria, where 293 000 leva will be allocated. Financial assistance for Afghanistan and Iraq will amount to 195 000 leva, and to Yemen, 97 000 leva.

The funding will come from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs budget dedicated to development and humanitarian aid.

“The budgets of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Organization for Migration, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the UN Children’s Fund, will provided funds.” The government statement declared

The humanitarian assistance provided by Bulgaria is part of the international community’s efforts to restore the region and improve the living conditions of its citizens there, the government statement said.
