Clashes broke out between Taliban forces and Mullah Abdul Manan Niazi gunmen in the Pol-e-Khimaduzan area of western Herat province.

Sources in Herat province said clashes between Mulla Abd-u-l Manan Nyazai`s gun men and Taliban began around noon and continued until 02:00 pm (local time).
Light and heavy weapons were used in the clashes, and former members of Mullah Abdul Manan Niazi, deputy head of the Taliban-affiliated Taliban branch, opened fire at Islamic Emirate security forces.

Islamic Emirate provincial officials has confirmed the news but avoided further details.
The Taliban increased their presence after the clashes and have set up several checkpoints in different parts of the city.

Saeed Khosti, a spokesman for the Taliban Interior Ministry, also said that their special forces gunned down three kidnappers, who were in hiding in PD-15 of Herat city.
According to him, Taliban forces have not suffered casualties during the incident.

It should be noted that Mullah Abdul Manan Niazi was one of the former commanders of the Taliban who left the group after the announcement of the death of Mullah Mohammad Omar, the founder of the Taliban, and the election of Mullah Akhtar Mansour as the leader.

He was killed earlier this year in an attack by unidentified gunmen in Herat province.
