Baghlan’s Dahna-e-Ghori Retaken

Dahna-e-Ghori district of northern Baghlan province was cleared of insurgents on Wednesday night, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Thursday.

The clearing operation launched a week ago in Dand-e-Shahabuddin, Dand-e-Ghori and Kela Gai areas, the statement said.

“With the continued advance in Baghlan, the security forces have retaken control of Dahna-e-Ghori district, which was in control of the Taliban for more than three years,” the MoD reported.

“The Taliban have suffered heavy casualties during the clearing operation,” the statement reported.

However, the statement did not provide further details.
