Construction of Kajaki Dam in Helmand will be finished in 3 months: Ghani

President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has said that the construction of Kajaki Dam in southern Helmand province will be finished in 3 months.

Media office of the Presidential Palace in statement citing president Ghani said the remarks were made during president Ghani’s meeting with elders of southern Kandahar province at ARG.

According to the statement, Kajaki Dam has potential capacity of producing 18 mv electricity power, Ghani said.

President Ghani added the government also intends to begin construction of the third phase of Kajaki Dam with which 100 mv electricity power will be produced. The water behind the dam will also irrigate a vast areas in Helmand and Kandahar provinces.

“Controlling Helmand and Harirud’s waters is of a top priority for the government.” Added Ghani.

He also said Turkmenistan TAPI transition line will solve electricity lack in Kandahar province and its environs.

Afghan unity government has always said controlling of waters is of among top priorities for government.
