Emergency meeting chaired by Atmar with media activists after Kabul attack

The National Security Advisor Mohammad Hanif Atmar chaired an emergency meeting with the media organizations and activists after a deadly attack in Kabul left at least 9 reporters dead and several others wounded.

The Office of the National Security Council (ONSC) said the emergency meeting was organized late on Tuesday night and was attended by the members of media outlets, federation of the media outlets and senior security officials, Khaama wrote.

According to a statement by ONSC, Fahim Dashti, representing the media federation, presented the recommendations, demands, and concerns of the media outlets to the National Security Advisor.

The media federation and the joint committee stressed on the need for the security for the journalists and assistance with the families of the journalists affected in terrorist attacks.

In his turn, Atmar said the demands and recommendations of the media federation were justified and instructed the relevant authorities to take necessary steps to ensure security of the journalists.

He also instructed for the formation of a mechanism and plan to assist with the families of the journalists killed in terrorist attacks.

According to Atmar, the government will arrange scholarships for the children of the journalists who have lost their lives in the attacks.
