Explosion kills 2, wounds 7 in Capital Kabul

Two civilians were killed and seven others wounded in a bomb attack in Kabul on Tuesday, police said.

The blast occurred in the morning after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted beside the house of a former official went off in Khair Khana Mina locality of the city, causing panic among residents.

“The obvious target of the blast was Raffiullah Gul Afghan, former member of Upper House of Parliament, but he was inside the house when the blast took place,” a police official said.

Those killed included a teenager and a woman passerby. Three bodyguards of Gul Afghan were among the injured, he said.

An investigation was launched into the incident and details will be made public later, the source noted.

No group has claimed the attack.
