Gen. Bajwa lauds Qatar’s role in Afghan peace process

The Pakistan army chief has commended the role of Qatar in promoting the Afghan peace process, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.

A day earlier, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa called on Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs Doctor Khalid Bin Mohammed Al Attiyah.

On a two-day official visit to Qatar, he also met Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces Lt. Gen. Ghanim Bin Shaheen Al-Ghanim, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

Matters of mutual interest, defence and security cooperation and the regional geo-political environment came up for discussion at the meetings, an ISPR statement said.

Qatari officials lauded Pakistan’s continuous efforts for peace and stability in the region and pledged to keep working for better relations between the two countries.
